If you are involved in planning meetings for
your company or association, you should
consider hiring a motivational humorous
speaker for your next event to motivate and
humor the attendees. Motivational humorous
speakers bring many talents, including
motivational and humorous concepts and
stories to enhance and reinforce their
points. Often times, some of the rewards a
motivational humorous speaker speaks about
are highly customized, incorporating your
companies or association’s mission statement
and culture.
Rewards and incentives in meetings
A reward is something that is given
following the occurrence of a behavior with
the intention of acknowledging the positive
nature of that behavior, and often with the
additional intent of encouraging it to
happen again. There are many examples of
what a reward is and isn’t and the
motivational humorous speaker will point
this out in his presentation. Managers have
been using the “Carrot and Stick” method of
rewards in American business for decades and
are now finding that hiring a motivational
humorous speaker can add immediate value to
their event. The definition of reward should
not to be confused with the definition of
reinforcer, which may include a measured
increase in the rate of a desirable behavior
following the addition of something to the
workplace environment. Motivational humorous
speakers can help to define and present
positive rewards to the meeting attendees.
There are two kinds of rewards, extrinsic
and intrinsic. The motivational humorous
speaker can focus his program on extrinsic
rewards, that are external to, or outside
of, the individual; for example, praise or
money. The motivational humorous speaker may
also mention intrinsic rewards that are
internal to, or within, the individual; for
example, accomplishment or satisfaction. A
competent motivational humorous speaker can
help your attendees distinguish between the
two types of motivation.
It was previously thought that the two types
of motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic)
could be combined to produce the highest
level of motivation. Some motivational
humorous speakers distinguish between the
two forms of intrinsic motivation: one based
on enjoyment, the other on commitment or
obligation. In this context, obligation
refers to motivation based on what an
individual thinks ought to be done. For
instance, using motivational humorous
speakers at your next event can lead to
helping others beyond what is easily
observable, rewarded, or fun. |
