Have you ever felt that you or your
companies marketing message was tired, worn
out and needed to be revitalized. Well think
of Personal Branding just like the “Big
Guys” do at Proctor & Gamble, Nike and Coca
Cola. When they need to gain market-share,
introduce a new brand or enhance or
reposition an old brand they follow certain
steps for marketing success - branding.
Regardless of age, regardless of position,
regardless of the business we happen to be
in, all of us need to understand the
importance of branding. We all are CEOs of
our own companies: “The Chief Everything
Officer” of “Me Inc”. To be in business
today, our most important job is to be the
head marketer for the brand called “You”.
Personal Branding – Not Just For
Celebrities Anymore
You don’t have to be a celebrity like Tiger
Woods to reap the benefits and rewards of
personal branding. Whether you are a
professional ready to springboard to the
next level in your career or an entrepreneur
starting on your first business venture,
personal branding can help you to bring your
goals into focus. You should begin by
analyzing your unique strengths and
differentiation, your competitive landscape
and your target audience. Then develop a
game plan to reach your objectives.
You can shape the markets perception of your
personal brand simply by defining your
strengths, values, goals and personality and
by defining yourself in an exciting,
persuasive manner. Express you and what you
stand for to everyone you meet – clients,
colleagues, friends, neighbors, and
strangers. Do this constantly and
consistently, and you will create an
effective - and lucrative - personal brand.
How Do You Define A Personal Brand
It has been said in all marketing
circles that if you don’t exist on Google,
you don’t exist. Becoming Googlized can
enhance and launch your personal brand. Many
people do not recognize the power that
search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN
posess. By understanding the power of this
new medium and harnessing it to your
competitive advantage, you can beat the
competition at their own game and help to
better define your personal brand.
